Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I thought all key systems were CASTELL, CASTLE or CASTELLATED systems. What are the differences between Fortress, H31 and Castell?

A. Please Click Here for a full explanation.

Q. What do the terms CODE and DIFFER mean?

A. Please Click Here for the answer.

Q. What is Cat 1, Cat 2, Cat 3 and Cat 4 mean?

A. These terms come from Australian Standard 4024.1 - Safeguarding of Machinery and refer to Risk Categorization, and the selection and design of safeguarding systems that form the safety related parts of a control system. If you do not have a copy of AS4024 and you own, design, or manufacture machinery you should obtain a copy.

It is important to note that these categories do not apply when power interlocking is used to isolate machinery.

Q. Is there any regular maintenance required for H31 locks?

A. Generally no, although a dry lubricant, such as powdered graphite, may help the lock operation over time.
